Tips:

Cortland apples were my Gramma's favourite apples to use for homemade apple sauce.

Some of the best apples to use in apple sauce are  Cortland, Crispin, Fuji and Golden Delicious. They are sweet apples just perfect for apple sauce. Gala apples work great too and they keep a bit firmer texture.

McIntosh apples are also good in apple sauce as they are aromatic, juicy, sweet and tangy-tart. They are a little bit mushier when cooked.

For this recipe I tried Jonamac apples. I had never had them before. This was by far my favourite apple sauce that I have ever made.  It was a perfect texture and wonderful sweet taste.
